Bows and Yoyo Ornaments

More ornaments made with the help of the Big Shot!

I love cute fabric yoyos! But, the worst part used to be cutting the circles. Now I use the Big Shot and circle dies to cut up to 8 layers of quilt fabric at a time!

The yoyos on these ornaments were cut with the 3-1/2 in. die. I used a variety of Stampin' Up! fabrics.
Fold under a scant 1/4 in. and sew running stitches around the edge of the circle.
 It will look like this.
Pull up the thread to form gathers in the centre. Bring the thread to the back of the yoyo, knot the thread and snip.

Tying the bow

Cut 20 in. of 1-1/4 in. wide striped ribbon and 6 in. elastic cord. Tie the cord ends together with an overhand knot an thread the loop onto the ribbon.
Form a loop about 6 in. from the left-hand end of the ribbon.
Wrap the right-hand ribbon over the loop and around the back.
Push a loop of the right-hand ribbon through the wrapped knot on the front.
Pull the loops. Be careful not to pull the ribbon ends through!
 Adjust the loops.
When the loops are the right size, tighten the knot.
Trim the ends of the ribbon and pull the elastic loop for hanging the bow.

Thread ribbon through the button.

Cut the end of 1/4 in. ribbon to a long sharp point.
Thread it through the button and tie a knot.

Use hot glue to adhere the yoyo and button to the front of the bow.
