Crimper Techniques: Faux Seersucker

Faux Seersucker
The mat on this card is textured with a crimper to look like Seersucker fabric, which is usually printed with fresh images and always reminds me of Summer.

Instructions for the pleated flower can be found here.

Stamp images on card stock and let dry. Run the card stock through a crimper. Then, turn the mat and crimp it so that the ripples are perpendicular to each other. Voila! Seersucker!

I used markers to colour the strawberry stamp from Tart and Tangy.

To mitre the corners of the striped DSP mat, cut 1 in. wide strips. Use re-positionable adhesive and overlap the corners. Then, cut from outer corner to inner corner.
Use four of the discarded triangles to adhere the strips together under the corners.
Adhere to the white mat.

Faux Seersucker Page Border
I used all the stamps from the Tart and Tangy  stamp set and the Faux Seersucker technique for a Summery scrapbook page border.

Colour the strawberries with Real Red and Garden Green markers and stamp on Pretty in Pink card stock.

The apples are inked with a Certainly Celery ink pad, then the edges are inked on a Garden Green ink pad and stamped on Bashful Blue card stock.

Colour the cherries with Real Red and Garden Green markers and stamp on So Saffron card stock.

The citrus slices are inked on a Daffodil Delight ink pad, then the edges are inked on a Tangerine Tango ink pad and stamped on Peach Parfait card stock.

Let the inks dry before crimping to create Faux Seersucker texture.
Keep the die-cuts together and apply adhesive. Then, separate and adhere to the project. Less mess and less damage to the letters or shapes.

Faux Seersucker Dress
For the dress on this card, I started with a circle of card stock. After stamping and crimping it, I cut out the dress using a template.

Instructions for the dress template.

Use the Clear Circle die (114533) with the Big Shot (113439) to cut a circle of paper. Then, score it 1 1/2 in. from the edge in a paper trimmer. The bigger section will form the skirt and the smaller section will form the bodice.
Fold on the scored line and place the folded edge next to the end guide and the edge of the circle at the 3 1/2 in. mark and score. The point where the score line ends on the edge of the circle is the side hem of the skirt.
Fold the paper circle in half across the first fold to form a corner and mark with a pencil at 3/8 in. This will be the waist of the dress.
Cut from the edge of the circle where the second score line ends to the pencil mark through all layers. That's from the side hem of the skirt to the waist.
Open the paper. The skirt is finished.
Fold the paper in half the long way before shaping the bodice.
Mark with a pencil 1/2 in. from the corner: NOT on the fold.
Cut both layers from the pencil mark to the waist.

Mark with a pencil 1/2 in. from top edge on the fold for the neckline and 3/4 in. on the side for the armhole.
Use the wide oval punch (119859) to cut the neckline to the pencil mark on the fold.
Keep the paper doubled and use the small oval punch (119863) to cut the armholes to the pencil mark on the side.
Open the paper and use to cut out the card stock.

Fabric Faux Seersucker
Adhere fabric to card stock with Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets before cutting the circle with a Big Shot and Clear Circle die.

I used a blender pen and Pretty in Pink ink to colour the flower on the sentiment.
